The Reformatory by Tananarive Due
I started reading this book and halfway i stopped because i couldn't get into the characters because i realised that my mind was so much conditioned or more familiar with westeren characters. I saw somewhere i was racist but i continued and each day my eagerness grew to know the end. I took every free time i had to finally finished it!
