What I didn’t realize

Something from this Instagram carousel got me to reflect:

Visible disorder can send a signal that nobody cares. And once that message lands, people stop protecting what already looks neglected.

And our brain works the same way.

Somehow this post helps me to see how I’ve done this to myself more than I’d like to admit: The overwhelm I’d sit with without addressing; The help I needed but didn’t ask for; suppressing negative emotions for a prolonged period of time…

I didn’t realise I was sending my own body and being this same signal — when things are slipping, it communicates that nobody cares and then more collapse happens.

But the opposite is also true — and that’s what I’m sitting with. With Master’s teaching of simirthi, to the practice of meeting what is without escaping it — I’m only beginning to understand what it actually requires of me to send my system the signal of repair and growth, instead of neglect.

I’m humbled … and will continue to learn this. 🙏
