Life letting us out, or us not allowing life to trap us?

What an inspiring discussion there was after Nirvan Lesson 13, I feel grateful for listening and participating. 🙏

Two students were sharing about the same quote by Master:
"in the world but untouched by it"
And they related it to the wish for "life to let oneself out", not to be trapped by karma I guess...

And this finally gave me a bit of an understanding of that expression about life letting us out. Until now I have been hoping for it to happen, as if life is bigger and I am smaller and as if life is an authority. Even though there may be a truth to that as well, I can see that it often makes me into a victim.

And the first of the 18 rites is to not be a victim, to not be effected by life.
And if I am not effected by life, even if it is only for 10 seconds ... didn't life just let me out for 10 seconds?!

So perhaps it is not only up to life to let me out, perhaps it is also up to me?
