Thinker = Thought = Possibility or Limitation?

Thinker = Thought = Possibility or Limitation?
What could be more important in this life than living one's dream?

This quote has been popping up on my phone from time to time over the years. Though it comes from Master Vimal, J. Krishnamurti stated the same understanding — that the thinker and the thought are one and the same. That two such sources point to the same truth perhaps says something about the importance of this inquiry.

It's one of those quotes where I sometimes feel I kind of get it — and sometimes feel I don't. Which obviously proves I haven't got it. 😉

When in the upward flow when nothing seems impossible, all thoughts are also positive — creative, constructive. I can be amazed by the insights, but maybe that amazement at particular limited thoughts is the beginning of the fall?

When in the downward flow — and often I'm not even aware I'm in it — the thoughts are negative, looping, repeating. Worried, frustrated, sometimes even panicked.

If one is pretending, the pretender is thinking pretentious thoughts? They don't point to any truth. Could it be that this is not a moral failure — but simply a law of nature?

When in celebration, maybe celebration is the thinker. Or joy. Or even love — thinking loving thoughts about how to make this world a more beautiful place. Maybe when the Guru is thinking, those are the thoughts of the whole.

With this perspective, one can see that the thought is shaped by the thinker. But then — how can the thinker and the thought be separated if the thought comes from the thinker? And the same with creator and creation — how can they be separated? They must have touched somewhere. Otherwise it is just imagination.

And if they cannot be separated, then mastering the thinking process (of observed) without mastering the thinker (the observer) would not be possible. Is there a liberation hidden somewhere here?
