Adler’s studies challenged Freud’s theories

Adler was questioning that if our past was the reason of our current life, then since we cannot travel back to the past to change what happened, then does that mean we are unable to change our current forever? Was it all fated at the beginning?

Apparently it’s not true. The moment a person wakes up to respond to life, the knowledge of the past is irrelevant, that’s the direction of the new studies. The inquiry is how do we learn to respond?
