The power of learning

This morning, I had a conversation with a client who is a scientist and professor. I was always amazed by how this client held her work and research, the dignity she held. After the session, while I was painting, it suddenly occurred to me that some clients who are scholars and artists present this dynamic of learning and inquiry, which supports them in holding their dignity.

All of us struggle. What I’ve observed is that the resilience built on this learning momentum is powerful. We can always find our strength through inquiry, curiosity, and exploration. Truth is empowering in this process. With this empowerment, we restore our dignity and aliveness.

When this client struggled with another, she didn’t ask what to do with that person; she asked, “What do I need to meet in me that I don’t impose my inner struggles on others?”— an honorable inquiry.

I learn from my clients all the time. They work hard, they are decent, and they care. I am honored to witness the dignity they carry.
