And the mind can do many things well. Yet, the body lives through experience differently. It records through sensation, posture, breath, tension, rhythm, and reflex. It remembers through patterns that were once intelligent forms of protection. And patterns and posture produce emotions - the energies that set us and keep us in motion. What was once intelligent and protective can now become redundant and even destructive, if it is rooted in the past and not what is in front of us. The pelvis is one of the places this can be felt clearly. It is central to support, movement, sexuality, birth, and expression. It is also a place many women have learned to tighten, mute, override, or disconnect from. This is not failure; it is adaptation. At the same time, adaptations that were once necessary do not always need to remain permanent. Growth is not only about shape-shifting insights. Sometimes growth is embodied presence, a softer jaw, a fuller breath, more movement in the hips, the ability to feel and stay present to what is felt, and a sense of inhabiting yourself more fully than before. The body often carries what the mind has moved on from. And so the body can become an important part of the way forward. What changes when you bring gentle awareness to your pelvis? My next pelvis workshop series starts May 14. If you feel the pull to explore this more in person, please reach out to me. (Link above.) 📸: Erik Bailón (Pexels)".
